Comedy drama about a woman who finds strength to assert herself in the modern day through the stories of two women in the past. The film’s framing device is somewhat awkward, but this likeable feminist drama benefits from a great ensemble cast. Actress-turned-author Fannie Flagg was nominated for an Oscar for her screenplay in adapting her novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café.

Why do you think we get such a kick out of watching feminists wreak inordinately violent revenge on guys that give them trouble? Maybe it’s because feminists are one of the “okay” groups these days, so we let them get away with anything they want. And, let’s face it, inordinately violent revenge can be a lot of fun when you get to do it to the other guy but he doesn’t get to do it to you. Just don’t let HIM know that that’s the way you think about it.
