Scattered fantasy about a sideshow vampire who turns a teenager into one of the undead. Film adaptation unwisely crams the first three books of Darren Shan’s book series into one film. As a result the film’s narrative lacks structure. The plot fluctuates throughout the course of the film. Is it horror, comedy, drama, or adventure? Unfortunately we are never sure. Apparently neither was the cast. The main characters behave in frustratingly illogical ways, and numerous supporting cameos by famous actors are an annoying distraction. In short, the film is a confusing mess.
