Utterly winning romantic comedy about unrequited love, is an absolute delight. Non-linear story details the dating relationship of two twentysomethings, a man who believes in love, and a woman who doesn’t. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is sweet, but naïve as Tom Hansen. Zooey Deschanel is effervescent, yet enigmatic as Summer Finn. The narrator warns us this is NOT a love story, but it really is, just not a conventional one. Los Angeles has never looked so charming.

I have to say, I was a bit disappointed with this one. I liked the inventive premise, but it wasn’t a match with much I had heard about it. Here’s my review:

I think this is one of the greatest romantic comedies of the last 10 years. My opinion has only grown stronger since it originally came out.
I agree 100%
This was a fast-food drive-thru review! lol. This may be JGL’s best performance to date. The scene where he broke down at the staff meeting and quit is one of my all-time favorite movie scenes; i just thought JGL’s acting was so great on that scene, and is so hard to believe JGL really wasn’t a depressed head-case as his character was.
I should re-watch this film and do a longer review. This was written back during another lifetime. 😉
LOL, I see that; yeah if you get a chance sometime you should do a more elaborate review. I should write one for this film, as well.
I need to write a new entry soon, it’s been nearly 2 months. I think the next entry I write will be about the third act of 8 Mile. Another Michael Shannon movie on my site. Shocker.
This is the greatest romantic comedy ever made according to me. https://demandedcriticalreviews.wordpress.com/2015/06/10/500-days-of-summer-review/
Wow. That’s high praise indeed.
Dan O. too gave this movie the same compliment
